Toddler gets teary-eyed when his dad calls him his ‘best friend ever’ — and I'm not crying, you are

When a dad calls his little son his "best friend," the toddler's pure, heartfelt reaction that follows is enough to melt anyone’s heart. His reaction also reminds us all of the simple yet beautiful moments of family. The throwback video was shared by the dad, Vincent Spencer (@micahzanesworld), earlier this March. It featured his then-3-year-old son, Micah, who was sitting quietly in the car as Lewis Capaldi's song Someone You Loved played in the background. The video clip soon went viral, gaining over 4 million views since it was posted.

As reported by Motherly, Spencer told his son, “You’re the best, best son ever, you know that? My favorite! My best friend! You hear it? . . . You’re the best son ever, the best! You hear me? Forever and ever, I’mma be your daddy. Forever. You hear that?” At that moment, the little boy couldn't hold back his tears, and it seemed millions around the world felt the same wave of emotion. Spencer revealed that when the sweet video of his now 5-year-old son popped up on his phone once again, he decided to share it with the world, as reported by Good Morning America.

Spencer further shared, “That song that was playing in the back is a song by Lewis Capaldi. But for some reason, the very first time he heard it, he teared up, and he was looking at me and telling me, 'Dad, I love you.'” He mentioned that the song has always deeply resonated with Micah. Moving ahead, Spencer also claimed that he has received several messages from strangers after posting the video. Reportedly, they expressed their gratitude after the clip helped them recover from past sadness. He said, "Just seeing how the world's kind of reacting to it is ... kind of cool. It might be for a bigger purpose."

Several social media users reacted to it as one TikTok user, @shop.2025188, commented, “You just healed his past lifetime childhood trauma in that one statement. His soul needed to hear that. And I’m now bawling.” Another person, @katie_luv2015, wrote, “Speak affirmations into him every day. You're teaching him that it’s Ok for men to show emotions & not hide them. May your life be blessed, sweet baby boy.” Similarly, @nykkitaurus369 chimed in and said, I wish every child got this kind of love and support from their parents. This child definitely is an empath. He’s so overwhelmed with love.”
The dad further shared that he hopes the video teaches others, especially dads, a new way to raise their boys. This is because, according to him, many dads feel they have to be very tough with their sons, telling them not to cry, but that shouldn't be the case. Since Micah is an emotional boy, Spencer wants to protect that part of him while also teaching him about life. He believes it’s okay for boys to show feelings, to cry, and to have emotions. You can be strong and still be open about how you feel, as reported by ABC News.
