Touching Acceptance Speech by Jennifer Coolidge About Mike White Is a Lesson In Friendship | "You’ve Given Me a New Beginning”

There must have been numerous times when you felt a connection to Jennifer Coolidge's character Tanya in the television series White Lotus. At the 80th Golden Globe Awards, Coolidge accepted the title of "best supporting actress" in true Tanya style. Her acceptance speech was just as relatable as her persona, let's not forget to mention how iconic it was as well. Coolidge touched many hearts as she was candid about her journey in Hollywood and how she felt about her dear friend and creator of White Lotus Mike White, India Times reported. 

She was donning a black sequin, Dolce & Gabbana dress for the night, as per Vogue. She began her speech by making the room full of people laugh by asking "I can put this down, right? I don't work out, you know? "What I mean is that I can't hold it for that long." Coolidge first talked about her starting journey in Hollywood, she said "Some of the people in this room, there were five people that kept me going for 20 years with these little jobs." She further added, "And it would be enough to get to the next one, the next one. Because some of these things are like five different ... sequels of American Pie. I’ve milked that to the bone. I’m still going for six and seven, whatever they want." 

Talking about the creator of 'White Lotus' Mike White about how he came in and gave her hope, Coolidge said "And, Mike White, you have given me hope. You’ve given me a new beginning… You changed my life in a million different ways." She went ahead and expressed how thankful she was to White for changing her life with the epic character 'Tanya'. 

Coolidge again in a humourous way thanked White for giving her a new beginning. She said, "Even if this is the end because you did kill me off, even if this is the end, you changed my life in a million different ways." She also mentioned how people started including her at every party and became more welcoming toward her after the show. Coolidge said "My neighbors are speaking to me and things like that. I was never invited to one party on my hill, and now everyone’s inviting me! " 

When she described how loving and kind-hearted he is, the 61-year-old actress brought White to tears. She said, "He is worried about the world, he’s worried about people, he’s worried about friends of his that aren’t doing well, he’s always worried about people, you’re worried about animals, and he really is one of the greatest people I’ve ever … He gives me so much excitement to be — you make people want to live longer, and I didn’t." In the end, she concluded her speech by saying "So anyway, I want to say, Mike White, I love you to death. I want to say this is an enjoyable night; thank you. Thank you!”

Her speech at the Golden Globe Awards is considered one of the best and most iconic moments at the award night. The room was full of laughter and applause after and during her speech.
