Walmart employee warns women against using their store restroom: "Just bring your..."

No matter how clean public restrooms might seem, one can never be too sure about them being completely free of germs since so many people use them every day. Highlighting such risks at a place known for keeping its customers safe, a shocking video posted by Walmart employee Devan (@601devan on TikTok) is forcing viewers to rethink their decision to use the restroom at its outlets. He brought attention to the disturbing risk that IV drug users and their needles pose by contaminating toilet paper.
In the video, Devan appears in his Walmart uniform, sitting in his car after what seems like the end of his shift. As reported by Market Realist, the caption on the screen reads, "PSA TO EVERYONE." He said, “If you use public bathrooms, stop what you're doing, and listen to this. You're gonna see why.” Devan then shared a photo of a toilet roll, showing red holes in the paper, with blood-like stains marking the edges. As reported by The Express, he said, “This is exactly what I'm talking about. This is from needle-using junkies going into the bathroom, taking that cover that's over it off, sticking their needles in there and cleaning their needles.”

He added, “Not all of them will have little blood spots on it. But if you look in the toilet paper, there shouldn’t be no pin holes or anything like that.” Devan then suggested, “For all my ladies out there, you have no choice but to use toilet paper, so I suggest checking your toilet paper before you sit down to use the bathroom, or just bring wipes of your own.” Although the disturbing discovery caused significant concerns, Devan said he had only seen toilet paper like this himself once or twice. The revelation sparked panic among thousands of viewers, and social media sites like X (previously Twitter) were also flooded with similar responses.

Fucking disgusting
One X user Savanah commented, "Hey guys be careful when using toilet paper at public restrooms, my mom just used one at Walmart and the toilet paper had blood spots on it! That means a tweaker just used the roll to clean their needles by poking it! Fucking disgusting." As reported by the Daily Dot, coming into contact with blood-contaminated toilet paper can pose serious health risks, especially if the blood belongs to someone who injects drugs. Potential consequences include HIV and various bacterial or fungal infections. Just a single drop of infected blood is enough to expose people to AIDS or hepatitis B and C.
So I just left Walmart. Honestly it was shocking. They had no toilet paper at all. I headed for the customer service desk and asked if they had any in the back. The attendant said no. Walking back to the toilet with my pants around my ankles is a walk I never want to make again.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that infections linked to drug use can linger in a single drop of blood for weeks and still pose a threat. If one ever spots small holes or suspicious marks on toilet paper in a public restroom, it’s best to leave immediately and notify the staff. When using public restrooms, people should focus on personal hygiene essentials, such as tissues, hand sanitizer, and disinfection wipes, just to be safe. Not just this, cleaning sinks and toilet seats before using them can significantly reduce the amount of germs one is exposed to.
