Washington man spends his Valentine's Day delivering free roses to widows and military wives
Seth Stewart, 29, from Spokane, Washington has been spending Valentine's Day diffrently from the rest of the world. He has spent the last eight years distributing flowers to widows and military wives in order to ensure that everyone has a good Valentine's Day, reports Crafty Diply. Once, Stewart and one of his brothers decided to give out two dozen flowers to their single pals. However, as word of their kindness spread, they began receiving requests from their community for further rose delivery. They just started with a simple gesture for their friends and it became an yearly ritual of Valentine's Day.
Stewart soon launched his own delivery business devoted just to delivering them Valentine's Day roses. The delivery service called Rose Rush started in 2011 and Stewart pledges that everyone who submits a request via their Facebook page will receive a rose. The beneficiaries are mainly single women and widows, but some members of the community also request that roses be provided to women whose lives have been severely affected. Boyfriends and spouses, deployed by the military also send in roses to their loved ones when they are not able to deliver it themselves.
People also write stories about why they are sending a particular person roses and these messages are quite heart-warming, per Stewart. He spoke to CNN, "Every single year we do this, there are always one or two women who break down sobbing because it means so much to them." "Some of the stories are so touching," he adds, "No matter how bad you are feeling there is always someone thinking about you." The crew shared a video of their rose delivery services and it is genuinely overwhelming and beautiful. They wrote with the post, "Here's a day in our life every Valentine's Day delivering Rose's. Picking up 700 tomorrow for all the single ladies nominated across town. See you on Friday!"
They posted a picture of their team last year with the caption, "Over 500 stops today and even more flowers handed out." People can also donate to their fund by their Venmo ID, @riversedgelawns, to contribute towards their services of sending out hundreds of free roses this year. They posted an appeal for donation this year, "We'll get through this one way or another. Thanks for keeping us going every Valentine's Day."
