The definition of cleanliness is not the same for men and women, or that is at least the popular belief. There are always exceptions but when TikTok user Tay Nicole (@thatgirltaylorrr) uploaded a funny video highlighting the differences, most people found it relatable. According to Distractify, the video has received 391,000 views on the platform.

The video starts with the text overlay “what my boyfriend sees” as the camera pans around what looks like a well-kept room. A Christmas tree stands beside the television, adding a festive vibe to the minimalistic room. Nothing seems to be out of order or dirty. All that changes when Nicole zooms into certain areas of the house, is how they’re not clean at all. It doesn’t paint a very flattering picture of her partner after all.

The text overlay changes to “what I see” as she shows stains on the walls, smudges on the microwave touchpad, dirty plates in the sink with bits of food still on them, and stains on the fridge and washing machine. All in all, the cleaning was not done meticulously at all. Some people are okay living like that but some are extremely bothered by them. This is something that has also been used as a trope for characters in pop culture.

Several viewers were able to relate to what Nicole was going through and they made their thoughts clear in the comments section. “It’s exhausting being the person that feels this way. like I literally can never rest,” a user called Abigail Jenkins commented. “Or when you clean and put away EVERYTHING and they come home and start throwing things down on the counters, kicking shoes off etc,” added another user called Ella.

Nicole has made a name for herself by making “as my boyfriend” videos and the most popular one got more than 600,000 views on TikTok. It’s a hilarious take on how her husband behaves and what he does on a normal day even if all of it isn’t the most sanitary. She can be seen taking off her shoes and throwing them away, eating food, and not bothering to throw away the wrappers, taking the trash outside and putting it just outside the front door, and the classic, chugging a full can of beer in one go.

Although some trolls tried to bully her over the video, most of the comments were appreciative of the humor she was trying to convey. “Bro seems like a chill guy,” one user called JJ wrote. “The water on the counter. Whyyyy do they do that??” asked another user.

Even men chimed in with suggestions on how to make it look more like a guy who just isn’t worried about cleanliness. “When you dropped the laundry, you forgot to sit on the made bed,” a user called @michaeljawnn commented.
