A woman asked her Uber driver to help when she needed a quick solution for an awkward situation, and he didn't disappoint. In a now viral TikTok video, the woman Catalina (@catalinamascochina) asked the elderly driver to pretend to be her father to help deal with a mechanic she believed was overcharging her. Without thinking twice, the driver played the part, making sure she was treated fairly.

It is no secret that mechanics often think they can fool women over the costs for parts and services. Such was the case on this occasion. In the video, the Uber driver can be seen standing beside the mechanic, questioning him about the car repairs. When the mechanic suggests an unnecessary fix to the transmission mount, the driver quickly puts a stop to it, as reported by The Daily Dot. As reported by Scary Mommy, he said, “We keep an eye on it; don’t worry about it. We will do it next time.”

The driver took his part so seriously that he even scolded Catalina like a father would, asking her to go pay for her oil change. She wrote, “The acting skills are a little too good because he was actually yelling at me like a dad.” Amused, netizens flocked to the comments section to praise the man. A person on TikTok, @elizabelle143, quipped, “Not trying to be dramatic, but I think this qualifies as a legal adoption.” Another TikToker, @frecklebot300, echoed, “That's OUR✨ Dad now. Protect this man at all costs.”

Meanwhile, others chimed in with similar experiences. A netizen, @chantellelnc, shared, “I had an Uber driver take me to the place where they towed my car, and he said, ‘Imma wait till you give me the thumbs up that you have your car because this place is sketchy.’” Similarly, @chaiteacarmen recounted, “When my friend's car got towed at midnight, the Uber offered to go into the tow office with us because he knew they would overcharge us as we were girls.” Another person, @kmchartier, shared, “I had an Uber driver completely change my flat in under 10 minutes because I was alone and it was midnight in a not great area. He canceled my trip, and I gave him $100 for being so kind.”

As the comments poured in, some suggested making this the man's full-time job—providing the service to anyone who needed a 'dad' on demand. While the driver's actions were indeed commendable, the incident also highlighted a broader problem of gender bias. Ideally, no woman, at any age, should ever have to rely on a man to ensure she is treated fairly. Until that time comes, we hope there are more good Samaritans out there who are as willing to help.
