Woman eats the food made by her husband 2 years after his death: "I'll forever miss his..."

In a heartwarming video that went viral, a woman, Sabrina Chae, ate a curry prepared by her late husband, Tony Song. The dish, a Japanese curry, was the last meal Song had cooked for her before he passed. Two years later, as she was getting ready to leave their home, Chae decided to finally taste the curry she had frozen to preserve his memory. In the emotional clip, she reflects on how Song was the family’s main cook, always preparing her favorite meals.

Chae shared that while the vegetables had become soft, the curry still tasted wonderful. Chae acknowledged that some people on social media might find it strange since the food was over two years old, but she explained that she couldn’t bear to throw it away. On Instagram, Chae said, "Tony was the primary cook of our family, and so anytime I was craving anything, he would make it for me. That was one of the many ways that he showed love to me." Taking the first bite, she remarked, "Umm, it's too good! This had carrots, onions, potatoes, and beef, and he put mushrooms in it."

In the caption, she added, "I will forever miss his cooking." As reported by People magazine, Chae added, “It wasn’t just me eating something that he had made with his own hands, but it was also me saying goodbye to this meal that he did make, and me also moving on to this next stage of my life." People on social media were understandably divided. A netizen (@oliviaolfactory), commented, “Phew my heart HURTS. I wish I could crawl through the screen and give you a big hug.” A person (@nursyuhadah) also shared, "My late father passed away 11 years ago...and his clothes wardrobe still smells like him...and it takes literally 1 second for me to cry out whenever I open that closet."

Another person (@md_musical_journey), echoed, “Girl. This is deep. It’s just surreal. Death has always been a tough subject because it’s hard for me to wrap my brain around losing someone so close. But the daily reminders are harder. And then this! His stew that he made. It’s a piece of him. I just can’t. I hope you are healing. This was tough but you are so strong.” Another Instagramer (@instavilliaan), chimed, “I teared up honestly. So happy you got to enjoy another meal from Tony.” Meanwhile, others were too grossed out by her eating a two-year-old curry. A netizen (@bearrippers) mocked insensitively, "Did the curry kill him?"
Chae and Song had always envisioned living together in New York City, where she was about to move leaving behind their old house. The decision came as her surroundings made her feel a little stuck. Opening up about her healing journey, she shared that it's a lifelong process.
