Woman gives the 'perfect gift' to grandmother by recreating six of her old photos for her 71st birthday

The granddaughter came up with the idea for her 71st birthday after noticing how similar they look in some of her old photos.

Lakyn Bowman thought of the most adorable, smart, and considerate way to commemorate her grandmother's 71st birthday. The 26-year-old from Milan, Tennessee shared a TikTok video. Since then, the video has gathered over 7 million views and 1.6 million likes. Bowman can be seen in the video doing her hair and cosmetics in front of the mirror. She wrote in the caption, "I recently saw photos of my grandma when she was my age and we look so much alike. Today is her 71st birthday and I have the perfect gift idea." Bowman recreates six of her grandmother's photographs using hair, makeup, and vintage attire.

The resemblance is remarkable after a few rounds with the curling iron, some pale blue eyeshadow, and the addition of some adorable flower prints. She used a filter that gave the photos a retro appearance. Bowman replicated many pictures, including one of her beaming cheerfully in a floral blouse, pouring coffee in the kitchen, and dressed up in a pink outfit with a gorgeous head of hair, per Newsweek.

Initially, she informed her followers: "I recorded the Facetime call but the audio didn't save! I'm sorry, no reaction video! But she LOVED them. As sweet as you'd expect." However, she decided to share the reaction video without the audio. Her grandma was thrilled when she viewed the photographs her granddaughter had crafted, as seen in the video. Bowman also mentioned in the video that her great-grandparents were watching.

She also shared the pictures on Instagram with the caption, "Recreating photos of my grandma when she was around my age. These are some photos from the previous post! My grandma and I are truly so grateful for the response we got on our video! Thank you so much!" People were singing praises about her creativity and skills in the photos. An Instagram user commented, "You are such a wonderful thoughtful young woman! I know your grandma will cherish these photos, well done!" A user hoped that her daughter also does this for her to, "make it a generational tradition xo,"

A third user commented, "Thank you so much for sharing this. What an amazing adventure it must have been! Best wishes to your grandma." Her Instagram post is also receiving appreciation and has gathered over 18,000 likes until now. Everyone is overwhelmed and overjoyed to witness the love Bowman shares with her grandmother.
