Woman Recreates Her Grandmother’s Old Photos and the Resemblance Is Out of This World
Upon realizing they shared an uncanny resemblance, Lakyn Bowman decided to surprise her grandmother with a recreation of her old photos.
We admire our grandmothers. The way they dress, their jewelry, their closet, and whatnot. Lakyn Bowman felt a similar admiration when she went through some of her grandmother's old photos. She was also pleasantly surprised to see that both of them looked very similar at her age.
Their uncanny resemblance inspired her to orchestrate a heartwarming surprise for her grandmother's 71st birthday. She time-traveled in her grandma's shoes—pun intended—and re-created each of her looks as a birthday present.
A TikTok video of the surprise begins with Bowman doing her makeup and hair exactly how her grandma did it back in the day. She used a curling iron, floral dresses, blue eye shadow, and some retro-style filters to achieve the desired looks. Later, she clicked some pictures to check if the outcome was close to her grandma's photos. And voila! Her looks were on point.
Over 8.8 million people viewed her video on TikTok, and many appreciated her tribute. It was a masterpiece.

In a follow-up video, she shared her grandmother's response to her video. The senior was all smiles upon watching the tribute and looked absolutely delighted with her birthday present. In another heart-touching story, a Reddit user shared a birthday card from his grandmother. It was part of a long tradition she has followed. However, it wasn't easy for her to send him the card on this occasion as she was losing her memory. He wrote in the post, "My 98-year-old grandma has been making me birthday cards for years. This one is the plainest of them all, but meant the most."
The birthday card read: "Happy birthday, Elliott. You have blessed my life for 47 years. It will be my last time trying to write on a computer as my hands don't want to write, and my memory is going fast, but trying to do a birthday card for you, my dear precious Elliott.
