While finding someone you want to spend the rest of your life with is a wonderful feeling, being single has its benefits, too. One woman, who wasn't afraid to speak her mind, seems to have offended those in love with her honest take on singlehood. In a viral TikTok video, the woman describes being single as a "luxury" and encourages everyone to enjoy the moment as is. However, in the video's comment section, while some viewers agreed with her, others took the liberty to prove her wrong. The clip was shared on TikTok by @onlinekeeks and now has over one million views.

In the video, the woman shares, "I just want to remind people that being single is a luxury, and you need to start treating it as that. You literally don't know when's the last day you're going to be single is. You can get into a relationship tonight, tomorrow, or the next month or next year, whatever the case may be. You just need to enjoy this moment right now." She further said that there will be a day when we get married and might or might not have kids, but most of all, we'll be sharing our lives with our partner. Therefore, the woman urged everyone to enjoy their own company before entering any kind of partnership.

While many people in the comment section shared similar views about enjoying single life, a few others came up with different logical explanations as to why being in a healthy relationship isn't half bad. One TikTok user, @biryaniray, commented, “I’m married to being single. Never wasting time on finding romantic love again. Grateful to have my own inner circle of friends who help me grow and flourish.” Another person, @lizzoniel, wrote, “No one keeping me up at night with their snoring, no one to clean and tidy up after, no one to eat the last of my snacks, no one to drain my energy. It is bliss, and I love every minute.”

However, sharing a different view, one TikTok user, @_neshak, commented, “Life is a luxury. Single, married, dating, heartbroken, walking, talking, breathing. You never know when it’s your last day for anything.” Adding to the above comments, @coyoteblvck said, “Being with someone who truly loves & values you, & gives you the space to do your own thing, without ever having to be alone is the truest luxury.” Meanwhile, talking about the woman's statement, relationship expert Tam Kaur told Newsweek that being single isn't a problem that needs fixing.

She called singlehood the best time to reconnect deeply with yourself. The expert further stated that while we are always taught that a good life partner completes us, in reality, no one else, apart from ourselves, can complete us. She also said that when we feel lonely, it's not always the case that we might be craving love or a partner. One can also find an alternative, like a good book or a group of random people with similar interests. Kaur then urges everyone to stop searching for someone else and instead love the life they already have. These simple yet important tips shed light on self-love, which is often hijacked by the need to be in love to be happy.
