Woman sent her graduation invites to random celebs — she froze after seeing who all responded to her

The world looks up to those who have accomplished great things in their respective professions. Similarly, TikTok user Renee (@reneener123) had a list of names in mind when sending out her extra graduation invites to celebrities. To her astonishment, she received responses from some of them celebrating her new milestone, which she flaunted in a viral TikTok video that has amassed more than 20.3 million views. The fresh graduate ran out of people to invite to her graduation ceremony in 2022 and tried her luck by mailing the rest of the invitation cards to celebrities in no particular order. The list ranged from Hollywood stars to sporting legends and even content creators like Doctor Mike.

In a compilation of photos, Renee narrated her dreamy experience of receiving responses from celebrities, the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Johnny Depp, Michael Jordan, and more. “Last year I sent my extra graduate cards to a bunch of celebrities who actually responded to them,” the TikTok creator wrote in the overlay text. Starting with a snap of the handful of invites she sent out, Renee then revealed a postcard from Johnny Depp with his famed Pirates of the Caribbean character, Jack Sparrow, on it. “All good wishes,” the A-lister penned. As viewers watched, dropping jaws, the second picture showed a note from NBA icon Shaq. He addressed the card to Renee and signed, “Congrats and Good luck! Peace.”

It was an interesting picture of the former athlete dancing with a mask on. Personalized letters from Michael Jordan and Adam Sandler were followed by attached template postcards. In the final bit, Renee divulged that famed YouTube creator and physician Doctor Mike opened the graduation card she had sent in a video. “Class of 2023, this is your sign to send your extra graduation cards to celebrities and companies!” she captioned the post. The remarkable feat attracted a lot of attention from the internet, with the video receiving over 3.3 million likes. “I knew Shaq would respond. I felt it in my bones,” wrote one person (@tesstakestiktok) while another (@luv_ali) wrote, “I got the exact same card from Johnny and freaked out! The best thing I got.”

There were others who shared similar experiences. “Adam Sandler sent the same exact card you got, I sent my wedding invite. Damn I thought it was unique. He must have an assistant send copies of that,” a comment by @yunglagoon explained. “The way they just [sent] photos of themselves without saying Congrats,” pointed out someone else (@yuhieyuh023). Some fans were excited about Dr. Mike’s response. “I would actually cry about Doctor Mike seeing mine,” chimed an internet user (@brvdyyhepnerr). One user (@fangirlingre.re) joked, “I'm really mad at myself for not doing this.”

In a population of 7 billion across the globe, celebrities are bound to receive an overwhelming number of fan mail and letters. While some top-notch celebrities find them too busy to respond, there are a few names who have a reputation for writing back. Taylor Swift is one of them. The world of Swifties is full of surprises, as the popstar constantly keeps them on their toes with her Easter eggs that link back to her albums and golden days. Besides that, she also engages with them personally, on some levels, by sending flowers, replying to letters, and showing support for some going through a tough time. Miley Cyrus, John Legend, and Jonathan Banks are also known to respond to fan mail, per The Things.
