Woman shopping for cat food at a pet store gets kicked out because she compared prices on Amazon

Jannet, who goes by @jannet.camacho on TikTok, had the most bizarre experience while getting flea shampoo for her cat from a local pet store. She was indirectly asked to leave the store by the owner because she was comparing prices of the products on Amazon. Expressing her shock, Jannet hopped on the internet to detail the owner’s questionable behavior and how it was not right to treat people with disrespect.

“I went to the pet store near my job and I was literally told to go **** myself and leave because I went on Amazon to check the prices versus the one in store,” Jannet said in her video that received more than 44,300 likes. The night before, she had rescued a cat from the streets. Having two other cats already, Jannet was concerned when she found out that the stray had fleas. She took precautions and thought it best to get the flea and tick shampoo to be on the safer side. Like most of us, she checked the product on Amazon, where it was listed at $12, but she needed it right away.

Despite knowing that pet stores are overpriced, Jannet was ready to pay the extra sum given her emergency. “I go to the pet store and it’s $25.99. Mind you, the person who was helping me out was the owner himself,” she explained. The owner handed her the product she was looking for. Having checked the product online the night before, Jannet mentioned Amazon. “When I said the word ‘Amazon,’ he didn’t like that word. So, he gave it to me and I was, like, ‘Thank you. I’m just gonna look around,” Jannet recalled.

The pet owner was looking for food options for her new cat, who did not like wet food. By this point, she realized that the owner was following her around the store. “He’s like behind me, and I’m, like, ‘Oh man, does he think I’m gonna steal something?’” Unbothered by his presence, Jannet pulled out her phone to check the cat food prices on Amazon. The owner probably did not like her comparing the prices and confronted her directly. “He comes right in front of me out of nowhere. And he’s like, ‘I’m not gonna let you go on Amazon in my store.’” Initially, the woman mistook it for a joke until she confirmed that the owner was, in fact, serious about his restriction.

Shocked, Jannet reconfirmed, warranting an explanation from the owner. “You know, I’m a business owner. This is my business. And it’s disrespectful to me if you come in here and you want Amazon. I’m trying. I have product here to sell,” Jannet said, quoting the owner. She had some words of wisdom for the man who was about 60. She and the owner got into a verbal spat, though without the yelling and swearing.
Around the end of their discussion, the owner snatches the shampoo from her and places it back on the shelf. “He’s like, I’mma put this away and you can buy it on Amazon.” Jannet was forced to leave because the owner was not ready to oblige. She went home and realized that the reviews for the store narrated a similar story, and decided to add one more.
