But in 2007, the then-married pair divorced each other.

Recently, their son turned 19 and to mark the special day, the ‘Fool’s Gold’ actress posted a series of photos and clips online. In the caption, she noted, “Born on a full moon in cancer, this young man has my whole heart ❤️.”

She continued, “Hilarious, loving, kind, loyal, sensitive. Ryder my sweet son, I love celebrating the day you were born. Your birth changed all of our lives forever and has brought so much joy and laughter daily.”

“I love you infinity x infinity x 3 trillion cubed 😆 A Big Happy Birthday @mr.ryderrobinson 🎂🎊❤️,” the doting mother added.

‘I want him to be happy’

Hudson once shared her experience of being a mother and she reportedly said, “Being a Mum and a working Mum it's never easy but no, every day, it's just crazy. It's insane. When you love being a mum like I do - that's no wonder all my parents wanted was for us to have a good time together.”

“That's all I wanted. I want him to be happy. I want him to realize that he can do anything he wants to do as long as he works hard for it and enjoys it,” the daughter of Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson added.

Kate Hudson’s eldest son is a college student now

Ryder is now a University student, who has moved away from his mother for further studies. Last year, she took to her Instagram to express her pride after Ryder graduated from high school.

She wrote, “Today was a big day for our family. A day you talk about about when your kids are little and say things like ‘hey, one day it will be 2022 and you’ll graduate from high school!’

“As if that day is so far it is barely reachable. And then here we are!”

The ‘Something Borrowed’ actress further mentioned, “@mr.ryderrobinson you are the most incredible young man. Raising you has been one of the great gifts and pleasures of my life.”

“I am so excited for this next chapter. Way to go baby! Ma loves you!” she added.

Hudson, however, did not like the distance between her and her son much as she reportedly said, “I will have a moment where I just start crying because it will hit me that he's just not here.”
