Life is full of surprises, and a couple from Kentucky got to experience it first-hand when they ordered an expensive coat from Amazon. The man, who later posted his experience on Reddit (u/annual_mushrooms), now has a story to tell for ages. The internet tuned in when the shopper shared a snap of the shocking finds he and his wife discovered from the coat’s pocket. After witnessing record snowfall in his local area, the 30-year-old man realized his wife needed a new coat. Jumping online to shop for her, the man stumbled on a premium-branded coat worth $600 and figured it was worth the price. The couple had no idea what was about to unravel.

When his wife tried on the coat, she got her hands on a trove of personal items inside the pockets. The Reddit user and his wife were shocked when she pulled a set of keys with an Apple AirTag, a door key, and a Honda car key. Quite the bargain for $600. Stunned, the man shared a quick snap of the bundle on Reddit, where it caught the wind, getting over 68,000 votes and thousands of comments from people. “These keys were found in the pocket of the ‘new' coat I bought on Amazon,” the post’s caption stated. Talking to Newsweek about his bizarre experience, the man said, "What are you supposed to do in a situation like this?" However, the couple reacted to the incident with a light-hearted moment and laughed it out.

While they were confident the Amazon coat was not brand new, they were determined to help find the rightful owner of the keys. "Aside from what might be a mild perfume smell, the coat seems new, but we know it isn't," he told the outlet. Besides the keys, the man noticed that the packaging was repurposed, suggesting the coat was actually a “used one.” Nevertheless, he prioritized finding the owner and scanned the AirTag online for more information, but unfortunately, the owner had not yet placed it in “lost mode.” A few days later, the owner was able to contact them through the AirTag, and the man arranged for the keys to be mailed back to the owner.

Initially, the shopper had contacted Amazon and Apple for help, but did not receive any active cooperation from their sides. He claimed the companies "said they couldn't help." Instead, they advised him to go to the police or simply disable the AirTag. To take care of his used coat problem, the Reddit user said they would likely return it and purchase the same one from an in-person store. “After all, I don't want to spend all that money on a new coat only to send a used one. The packaging it came in was like what they use when they send you something used,” he noted.

Meanwhile, his social media post unexpectedly blew up with several comments sharing similar key bundles on the platform. “I thought it was such a wild and funny coincidence that it just had to be shared,” he marked. “That’s crazy because I too had thought the same thing!” wrote a commenter (u/Mister_Goldenfold) while another (u/Nickthegreek28) joked, “You’ve got a new house and car, if you can find them.”
