Bob Odenkirk has gained popularity for his part as Saul Goodman in the popular American TV show "Better Call Saul," but turns out there's more to him that the world wasn't aware of. He might want to give Buckingham Palace a call, in the light of recent revelations made on "Finding Your Roots." In the episode centered on the actor, Henry Louis Gates Jr. delved deep into the actor's history and found out his 'royal connections.' As per Gates' analysis, the comedian and King Charles are 11th cousins. The popular actor is connected to the British monarch due to an affair outside wedlock. The host asked Odenkirk to express his views about monarchy before the big reveal, and the comedian did not hold back. His less-than-favorable views added a touch of irony to the disclosure.

Henry Louis Gates Jr then told the actor how his father gave him his aristocratic roots. Odenkirk confessed that he did not know much about his father's background since he left the family when the comedian was just 15. Gates began the conversation by telling Odenkirk that his father’s fifth great-grandfather was born to Maria Catharina Bein and the Duke of Plön, out-of-wedlock. The connection with the Duke did not bother Odenkirk much, as he didn't believe in the concept of monarchy. “I’m an American. I’m not a monarchist. I don’t believe in, uh, that,” Odenkirk told Gates Jr.

“You know, I feel like it’s a little twisted. I understand why society built itself around monarchs and leaders, and they passed them down through generations,” The Better Call Saul actor shared with Gates Jr. In his opinion, society has outgrown this institution, and gone to a more democratic place. He added: “I understand that goes through every society, every civilization. But I think that we’ve gotten to a better place with democracy and we should keep going down that road.” This is when the host delivered the gut punch by revealing that Odenkirk and King Charles are actually cousins. This left the actor in splits as he called the whole thing "crazy." Seeing the irony he said, “Well maybe I’ll change my mind on that.”

Gates Jr. asked Odenkirk how he felt about it all. The actor replied,  "Like I'm part of history that I didn't think I was any part of." Thereafter, he joked a little bit at his newfound royal connections' expense by saying that he hadn't "been royalty more than five minutes" and was already trashing his family. This new revelation will not change anything in this prolific actor's life. Last year, his hit show "Better Call Saul" ended its run after 6 seasons.

As reported by the Independent, the critically acclaimed show created a unique record in the Emmy season. After not being able to garner a win in any of the seven categories, it had been nominated in, the show became the most nominated program to never secure an award in Emmys history. Over the course of its six-season run, the show was nominated 53 times without a win. Odenkirk himself was nominated in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series but lost out to Kieran Culkin who won it for his role as Kendall Roy in "Succession." As per Deadline, Odenkirk's next big role is in a Western action movie. For this project, he will reunite with John Wick writer Derek Kolstad, who previously wrote "Nobody."
