Bizarre optical illusion of a woman coming down a slide has everyone asking the same thing: "How did you..."

Optical illusions aren't just spirals or images with numbers hidden in them, they can be created even in the living room or a park. These visuals are meant to mess with the human brain, prompting people to find the simplest way to interpret what they see. One accidental optical illusion shared by a woman is already testing the brain’s ability to observe and reason for many. There’s something magical about revisiting a childhood playground and letting the adult world slip away. However, for two TikTokers, their playful trip down memory lane quickly turned into a baffling experience when they unexpectedly created an optical illusion on a slide.

TikTok user Grumpy Bussy posted a video featuring herself taking a ride down a park slide. While she is sitting upright at the top, something strange happens by the time she reaches the bottom, and she’s lying face down. A voice says, "How did you end up backward?" To this, she replied, "I don't know?! It happens so quickly." Since then, the video has gone viral as it has received over two million views, with people leaving completely confused comments. In an attempt to explain how the woman ended up at the bottom of the slide in an entirely different position from when she began, many users immediately chimed in with theories.

One TikTok user, @fxnxtical, commented, “I GOT IT!! The turn was so sharp that she ended up just twisting her body a little and ended up on her stomach.” Similarly, @markiniers commented, “The turn is too sharp for her height that her whole body twisted instead of bending with the curve.” However, the lady responded to this and said, “She’s 5’3” I promise you it is not the height issue.” Another person, who goes by the username @memberofplanetearth, shared a theory stating, “She leans to this side which becomes the new bottom of the slide so she ends on her stomach.”

A fourth TikTok user, @highwitchery, chimed in, “I’m wondering why people are so confused. Look how the sides of the slide are shaped, there’s less lip on the bottom, causing her to shift toward.” In a similar comment, @desperateforausername wrote, “My explanation would be that she wasn’t sliding fast enough for the turn, so with the sharpness of the turn centrifuge effect didn’t happen/ gravity did.” However, despite these theories, several other users in the comment section were clueless as they stated that even after watching the video several times, they were not able to find out what went

Meanwhile, in yet another widely shared accidental optical illusion, a TikTok user, who goes by the username @oteliacarmen, displayed her newly purchased hat, which allegedly changes color as she moves around her house. The user never found out what color the hat was originally supposed to be, even after contacting the maker and the retailer. Under different lighting conditions in her home, the hat gradually turned from brown to green. However, metamerism, in which the lighting changes how the eyes perceive the hat's true color, was eventually found to be the cause behind the changing shades.
