A bride discovered an ingenious way to honor the memory of her late mother on her wedding day. Set to begin a new journey in life, Aniyah Gordon (@niyamonroee) walked down the aisle with her father but craved for her mother’s presence. The TikTok user, who works as a registered nurse and entrepreneur based in Brooklyn, tried to hold back her tears when she heard her late mother’s voice play in the background. This was done to ensure Gordon’s mother was present with her in spirit, if not in reality.

Moments before the father-daughter were about to step on the altar, Gordon, dressed in an elegant gown and veil, fought her tears as her late mother’s voicemail played on. She spoke about her daughter’s new milestone and wished her the best in the future. “I love you so much… You’re such an awesome kid. You make me proud every day,” the voicemail stated. The 29-year-old bride got emotional while her father supported her with words of encouragement. It is worth noting that this gesture was not a surprise, but something the bride had planned to do for herself. “Hearing my mom’s voice on my wedding day was the reassurance I needed,” she captioned the post.

“It’s my dad whispering, ‘I love you, you got this, I’m always gonna be here,’ for me,” she added. The guests wiped away their tears in the background as Gordon tried to keep her cool by looking at the ceiling several times. The voicenote ended, and the guests looked at the bride with compassion and love. In the final bits, the father wiped her daughter’s tears with a tissue before they proceeded to the altar. Her mother, Aichia Divine Stanislaus, was her best friend, Gordon told Good Morning America. “I'm glad that even through the video, people were able to feel her energy, leaving comments saying how soft her voice was and how angelic it was and how comforting it was for them, even in their [own] loss and their grief.”

The video raked up 7 million views and 1.1 million likes from people. The moment resonated with a fair number of people as they showered Gordon with love and supportive messages. “You and your dad held it together ‘cause the way they would have had to pick me off the floor! Such a beautiful moment to see,” wrote a person (@ifynwokolo) while another (@theebonyorchard) said, “I’m so sick of crying with strangers! Beautiful.” Someone else (@2k.dollaaaaaaass) expressed, “Immediately I would’ve fallen to my knees and now we gotta start over because I planned this but I wasn’t prepared.”
