Cancer Patient Dedicates Song for Her Son From Her Deathbed. The Internet's Response Overwhelmed Her
Ailments such as cancer don't just leave individuals fighting for their lives but also have a significant impact on their loved ones. This is what happened with Cat Janice, 31, who was a singer but her life was abruptly altered by cancer, as reported by PEOPLE. It was then that she decided to capture her battle with cancer on social media and requested her followers to stream her latest release, "Dance You Outta My Head" so that the proceeds of the song could be invested in her son's future. Not expecting the post to blow up she went back to sleep, the singer woke up in the middle of the night to find out that iTunes had tagged her in a post about her song charting on their site.
The news was a welcome surprise for the singer who had been struggling with cancer since 2021. Her worst fears came true and she got diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare malignant tumor. The singer had to undergo surgery, chemo, and radiation before being declared cancer-free on July 22, 2022, but continued to make songs and upload them on social media all along.

In June 2023, the singer received heartbreaking news that her cancer had returned. "I'm going to go back into treatment," she shared on her social media. "I'm going to be really effing strong about it and I'm going to let you guys know what's going on. And thank you guys so much for loving me." The treatment was hard on her, but she went through it all with optimism. In the midst of it all, she released a song about her hair falling. She gave the caption on the post: "When you coincidentally release a song about losing your hair on the day your hair actually falls out."

Despite all efforts, the prognosis remained dim. In January 2024, she gave an update to her followers that her tumors had "tripled" overnight. On the 10th of the same month, she was shifted to hospice after having trouble breathing in the ICU. Feeling that this might be the end for her, she decided to shift the rights of all her songs to her son, Loren before making a heartfelt request on social media. "My last joy would be if you pre-saved my song “Dance You Outta My Head” in my bio and streamed it because all proceeds go straight to my 7-year-old boy I'm leaving behind," she wrote on TikTok. "Please please share this, I need to leave this with him. I hope to make it through this but if not, to all a good night," she added.

Janice was taken aback when she woke up at 2 am and saw the Facebook post put out by iTunes. "I was sitting there in the middle of the night looking at my phone — what the heck is going on here?" she recalls. "I started yelling and my parents came down, they were like, what is going on?" The singer thanked all her fans for making her last days special with this gesture. The song went on to achieve number 1 position on the TikTok Billboard Top 50. Sadly, on February 28, 2024, the singer breathed her last. In a post, her brother shared that several posthumous projects will be released with Janice's permission in the days to come.
