Yasemin Sarli and her boyfriend, Davide, found themselves in an unexpected predicament during a trip to Buenos Aires in October 2023, to attend one of their friends' weddings. They had booked everything, starting from flights, hotel, and time off work, all for what they thought was their close friend’s wedding. But there was just one major problem that they weren’t actually invited.

The couple had received an informal save-the-date text from the groom months earlier, but no official invitation followed. This was posted by @sarliunlimited on her TikTok account. Davide, confident in their friendship with the soon-to-be-weds, assumed they were on the guest list, and with no reason to doubt, he went ahead and booked their travel plans early to save money. They even chose the same luxury resort as the other wedding guests, the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, and thought everything was set.

But a few days before they were due to fly out, reality set in. Despite being in the loop for early travel plans, Yasemin and Davide had received zero details about the wedding. So, instead of confronting the bride and groom or canceling the trip, the couple made a decision that they would go to the wedding uninvited and pretend everything was normal. And they would do everything possible to avoid the wedding guests, as reported by the People.

In a way, they became secret agents on a mission to avoid detection. They tracked the wedding party’s plans and created a strategy to stay out of sight. If they heard the group was at the pool, they’d book spa treatments. If the wedding guests were having dinner, they’d either eat super early or super late. What started as a simple mix-up quickly turned into a full-on undercover mission, and throughout their six-day stay, they managed to avoid being caught. Even though Yasemin and Davide’s relationship ended shortly after the trip, they still look back on the experience as one big, surreal adventure.

Yasemin and Davide’s accidental wedding crash sparked a lot of curious reactions on TikTok. @Jennifer Reynolds was one of the first to question the details, asking, “But how did you find out all the details if you weren’t invited? And wouldn’t you have said something about the fact that you’re going to Buenos Aires?”

It wasn’t long before @adampfeiffer327 chimed in with a thoughtful response, stating, “They probably didn’t want to make friends feel obligated to shell out that much money on the trip. I bet they would have been thrilled if you had shown up.”

@Thebeautylife_byflo, offering a more practical take, said,  “Have people never seen a wedding notice? Sometimes people send them out, just letting you know they’ll be getting married but aren’t able to host everyone. There’s usually the country where they’ll be getting married and the date, no venue address.”

Another commentator, @Trish, shared her own wedding invitation anxieties, saying, “OMG this is my fear anytime I get an invitation through my husband. Like, I have to ask if he saw the actual invitation and it had both our names on it, or if his mate just mentioned it casually!”
