Bride and groom plan 'dream wedding' for 10 months but there's one problem — no one showed up

A wedding is the day when a bride feels most special, entering the hall to a room full of people waiting to be enamored by her beauty and witness the holy union of two people in love. Bride-to-be Kalina Marie, who goes by @kaline_marie_23 on TikTok, and her husband, Shane, had hoped for a similar entrance to their dreamy wedding reception. The couple had spent hundreds of dollars and put in the time and effort to plan their big day to cherish forever. In a heartbreaking video shared, Marie and Shane walk into an almost empty hall as none of their guests had shown up.

Marie and Shane walked in a picturesque manner, with their son, as two people pulled open the entrance to the perfectly decorated hall. Miley Cyrus’s song, When I Look At You, echoed the empty hall while the bride and groom walked the aisle in slow steps, shocked by the bizarre turnout. Regardless, the brave couple decided to enjoy every moment with the handful of guests that had actually shown up. “POV: You planned the most beautiful entrance. Just to open the doors to an empty venue,” a note on the video read.

In an attempt to hide their devastation, Marie and Shane managed to put on smiles to get through the formal evening. Hard to watch, the bride penned an elaborate note describing her unfortunate wedding reception. “This is our entrance to our Masquerade ball. The Masquerade ball that I have talked excessively about for the last 10 months,” Marie wrote, adding that she had digitally invited over 75 people and made an effort to send beautiful invites to 25 close friends. She revealed in disbelief, “Five people showed up! The invite said 1 pm. My mom messaged me at 1:15 that no one was there. My husband and I finally showed up at 2 o'clock, to 5 people in a venue planned for 40.”

To her misfortune, Marie had “dreamed” of a wedding hall full of people cheering them on. “Hooting” and “hollering” at the newlyweds to celebrate their love and union. “But all you see is a woman trying to hold herself together because she had no idea how to deal with her venue being almost completely empty,” the bride admitted. Additionally, she pointed out all the food wastage and empty tables and chairs that made every moment miserable on her special day. Deeply hurt by the insensitive guests who did not bother to attend her reception, Marie asked herself, “Why? What did we do? Am I that bad of a person? What did my husband ever do to deserve any of this? Why couldn’t we matter enough for people to show up?”
@kalina_marie_23 This is our entrance to our Masqurade ball. The Masqurade ball that I have talked EXCESSIVELY about for the last 10 months. The same ball that I not only digitally invited over 75 people to. But ALSO spent money to send 25 beautiful invitations out to. FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!!! Like, are you kidding me!?!? As you see in the video, we enter the venue. And no one is there. The invite said 1pm. My mom messaged me at 1:15 that no one was there. My husband and I finally showed up at 2oclock, to 5 people. In a venue planned for 40. I dreamed that I would walk in to a bunch of people cheering us on. Hooting and hollering for us in celebration……but all you see is a woman trying to hold herself together because she had NO idea how to deal with her venue being almost completely empty. All the wasted food and drinks. All the empty tables and chairs. Every moment of my reception changed to adapt. Did we still make the most of it?? You bet your SWEET @$$ we did. But did this video just take all the good moments and shoot them out of the water for a second, F$&K yea it did 😔 It just makes me think, like, why? What did we do? Am I that bad of a person? What did my husband ever do to deserve any of this? Why couldn’t we matter enough for people to show up? I still have “friends” that haven’t even messaged me to congratulate me or tell me why they didn’t come. It truly makes me sick. I honestly can’t wrap my head around this yet. But all I know is, I have my man. My baby. And family that shows up when I need them. And for that, I will be thankful ❤️ #FAIL #fyp #whereisthelove ♬ original sound - Sara Lones
Sadly, there was no answer. None of her “friends” cared enough to explain their absence or even congratulate her on her new beginning. “It truly makes me sick. I honestly can’t wrap my head around this yet,” she added. However, the couple noted that as long as they were together and moved ahead with love, there were no regrets. Viewed over 12.8 million times and liked by 600,000 people, the video stormed the internet, drawing a mix of reactions.
@keep_aiming_forward suggested, “Let's do it over. This time, invite me and the rest of us. We'll show up and out. I love you, beautiful, and congratulations!!” While @shoelover99 said, “This hurts my heart for you.” @smarie2254 advised, “Keep those 5 close to you and the others just cleaned the way for new amazing friends in your future.” In a follow-up post, Marie revealed that the couple were still dealing with the “grief of deleting a lot of people” and how it had been an emotional time.
