Dad tried to help daughter 'slim down' as she was fat-shamed at school — she responded with love

A schoolgoing girl from China recently stunned her dad, Guo, and the internet with her innocence and wise take on self-love. Her unabashed confidence shone through as she expressed her heartfelt thoughts about her dad, who she thought was trying to lose weight. Turns out, the sweet daughter, who remains unnamed, was on the receiving end of fat-shaming at school. So, Guo decided to encourage an active lifestyle and took her on daily strolls after dinner, as reported by the South China Morning Post.
Interestingly, the daughter mistook her father’s desire for her to slim down as his own weight loss journey. When she and Guo kept their promise and went for their daily post-dinner stroll, something amazing happened. The daughter earnestly spoke of loving her father, and her kind words touched his heart. “Dad, you don’t have to lose weight because I love you no matter what you will become,” the little girl said, huffing and puffing as she walked along a river. The video filmed by her mother was shared on mainland Chinese social media and instantly took off on the internet for its heartwarming premise.
Asked to explain her thoughts, the girl’s answer was simple, “Because you’re my dad!” The beautiful moment unraveled when the father encouraged his daughter to walk daily. Intrigued by the proposition, she asked, “Is it to slim down?” His affirmative response urged her to speak her most honest thoughts. Simply put, nothing in the world could change her love for her family. Surprised by his daughter’s empathetic words, Guo said, “I wondered where she learned to say that. But then I realized it was from the bottom of her heart. I felt very touched at that time.”
The little girl is not only loving and kind, but also confident and proud of her body, the way it is. At school, some classmates teased her about her weight, calling her fat. Yet, her optimism was not deterred. She admitted that she never felt angry with them. “Because it’s true that I’m fat,” she quipped.
Here, her father chimed in with his wisdom, saying, “Everyone is different. It’s important to have a beautiful heart, right?” The daughter was not completely on board with him. She corrected him, “And all other organs, right?” Eventually, Guo explained the significance of exercise and an active lifestyle, and the father-daughter duo have been walking and working out ever since.
