Just a week before a young fan, Kane, passed away from cancer, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson surprised the boy by ringing him up. As the story of his sweet gesture broke, netizens online were reminded to live each day with kindness. Johnson shared that he spoke with Kane, his twin brother Dennis, and their parents on March 11, 2025, when the boy was admitted to the hospital. On April 6, Johnson, posting a video of their exchange, shared the sad news that Kane had succumbed to his illness.

Kane allegedly had only one wish—to meet Johnson, as reported by Amplify Upworthy. Johnson wrote in the caption, “My heart always skips a beat whenever I get the call from my friends at Make-A-Wish, letting me know we have a ‘Rush Wish’ that needs to happen right away.” In the video, Johnson asks Kane, “Hey, buddy! How are you?” Kane, with tubes attached to his nose, couldn’t speak, but carefully listened to every word the actor had to say, as reported by People magazine.

Lying on the hospital bed, his face lit up with the sweetest smile as Johnson talked. He saw that Kane had a staff/hook in his bed, just like the one Maui uses in 'Moana.' He also noticed Moana and Hei Hei dolls beside him. Interacting with the boy, the actor showed Kane a bracelet his daughter Tiana made, which looked very similar to the one he was wearing. At the end of their video call, Johnson said, “I just want to tell you I’m so happy to finally meet you. You inspire everyone around you, including me. I can see why you’re so incredible and amazing.”

Johnson sang 'You're Welcome' with the family, adding Kane and Dennis to the lyrics. In the caption of the now-viral post, Johnson shared, “Despite not being able to speak when we met, I FELT this little boy’s SMILE, and felt this little boy's MANA. His mana was beautiful. His mana was strong." The actor also consoled the brave parents and praised his twin brother Dennis for being an awesome brother. On social media, netizens also showered the family with heartwarming messages.

@emilyskyefit commented, “Bawling. 😭 I can’t deal with this. Sending all my love and prayers to Kane’s family. What a wonderful blessing you have to be able to make someone’s dream come true, DJ!” Another person, @thejulierock, echoed, “God bless you for giving Kane and his family such a wonderful memory that they will always remember. Many blessings, love, and strength to Kane’s family. RIP Kane.” A third person, @rockmsockmmeg, rightly said, “It is an incredible responsibility to take on being the joy in someone’s most difficult moments of their lives. To keep a piece of their trauma and heartbreak forever, to trade for that gift of pure delight in someone’s last days is selflessness in itself.”
