Man who has never met his grandad finds a letter with special message for him: 'I just want...'

A grandson was fortunate to experience a love that had stood the test of time. Love transcends boundaries, but in this case, it had endured decades and still managed to impart the fuzzy, warm feeling of affection. A TikTok user, who did not reveal his real name or age and goes by @jayrose_nufc, shared a viral clip that is melting people’s hearts. The single dad from the U.K., as stated on his social media, found an age-old letter from his grandfather written with love for his family. 

Penned in 1983, the grandad’s beautiful message of love was put down on paper at a time when the poster was just born. In an overlay text, he mentioned, “So my grandad, whom I never met, left this, knowing that one day we would find it.” His late grandfather foresaw that the family would find the letter long after he was gone, and yet, his love shone through the wilted piece of paper. Living in the same house in Coventry, the poster climbed a flight of stairs and showed the note stuck on a corner. It read, “By the time you read this, I will be in that great big pigeon pen in the sky. I just want you to know that I love you all very much.” The grandad continued, “Take good care of yourselves and always love one another.” He signed off the sweet note as “Your old Dad” with a dozen Xs denoting kisses for every member of the family. 

The poster revealed in the caption that he never got to meet his grandad because he passed at the time of his birth. However, his gentle and loving nature was remembered and cherished by the family even after his passing. “He was a real gentleman and loved his family so much. He had a pigeon pen in the garden, worked hard his whole life, and was a true gent! Until we meet grandad, until we meet,” the original poster shared. Later, he told Newsweek about his precious find. The family had discovered the note while redecorating the house where his grandparents lived until his passing in 1986. The grandad left the message on the wall two years before he died. 

"We found it [the note] about 15 years ago. But only recently took a new video of this and decided to post on TikTok. My grandmother was overwhelmed when we she discovered it,” the man added. The heartwarming present in the clip with 287,000 views undeniably struck a chord with hundreds of people. @jewelz.p13 said, “He sounds like a good man, and you don’t have to have known someone to feel their love. It’s everlasting and it’s yours.” While @ragga.jungle.reev noted, “You can’t buy that stuff, you just can’t. Priceless, best gift in the world.” A viewer (@menopausemandie) suggested a way to treasure his grandad’s note. “Photograph it, frame it. Perfect memory.” @ryan_heart_1985 disclosed, “I’ve done this for my kids because I have a brain disease and we don’t know which way it’s going to go.”
