Mom asks if she was wrong to yell at a stranger stalking her kids in the supermarket: 'I would...'

It is not difficult to notice how new moms are always on the alert to ensure the safety of their children. When a mother of two went on her usual grocery run, she encountered a stranger who rang alarm bells in her mind. Michele, who goes by @michelejeannette on TikTok, shared a chilling story about a creepy old woman who stalked her family in the supermarket. Her actions forced the mom to yell at the old woman in public and call her out. Michele later contemplated whether she was right in doing so and asked for validation from fellow moms on the internet.

Michele admitted that she did not feel bad “one bit” about yelling at the lady at the grocery store before narrating the entire ordeal that went down. As the mother of two sons, aged 3 and 1, she revealed that she had met the stranger about five times, but it took her three uncomfortable encounters with the woman to realize there was something off about the situation. “When my one-year-old was about six weeks old, I had my first encounter with this woman. My mom and I were in the store together, and I had both the boys,” Michele continued. “This woman came up to me, a girl up in my grill, asked me questions about how old the baby was, saying he was so cute…Definitely invaded my personal space a little bit.”

Though uncomfortable, the mom, six weeks postpartum, still felt an ounce of empathy for this woman and talked to her gently. However, she eerily met her four more times at the same grocery store and ended up having the same conversation about her kid’s age. “It took about three times for me to actually realize it was the same woman every time. Each time, making me uncomfortable,” she recalled. During the fourth encounter, Michele somehow escaped with her husband when the creepy person followed her and squeezed her way in through the checkout line to ask questions about her kids. In the latest incident, Michele decided to confront the lady while she was at the self-checkout alone with only her youngest son.

The old lady pestered her with the same questions even though Michele chose not to engage. Despite informing her that, the stranger did not back up and reacted to the mom with aggression. She somehow got out of the store while the bystanders witnessed the situation. Michele still dreads the last encounter and expressed feeling anxious about going to the grocery store again.

The post garnered 377,000 views and several comments of reassurance and similar stories from fellow moms. “You 100% did not overreact. Look up Julian Wood in Ohio. Some people are just not safe, even in broad daylight. Safety over courtesy, especially with kids involved,” said @flower_candles. While @alexiainreallife suggested, “I’d absolutely report her to management!” A fellow mom, @rahvencraft, recalled a similar experience. "I had someone come up to me once when my daughter was a baby and ask me how old she was. I just said, 'I don't know. She won't tell me,' and walked away."
