Mom explains how her baby takes a nap with a blanket and turns out, many parents relate to it

One of the trickiest parts of early parenthood is getting a baby to sleep, and one mother found a hack that helps her child fall asleep easily and shared her discovery with the rest of the world through a TikTok video. The mother is a content creator named Brooke (@brooke.winner). The video shows her daughter, Murphy, who is just over three months old, sleeping soundly with a blanket over her eyes.
Turns out that it’s the only way she can fall asleep and enjoy a long sleep, even if the room is pitch dark. The reason why she needed the blanket to sleep is a condition called sleep regression. It refers to periods when a baby, who used to sleep pretty well, suddenly experiences frequent waking, fussing, and refusing to fall asleep at their bedtime, as per a report in Newsweek. The text overlay on the video read, "Sleep regression is so real. The only way she'll nap and we dare try to correct it."
"She has regressed and requires a comforting blanket over her eyes while she sleeps. This helps soothe her and keep her comforted while she naps, even if she's in the dark,” Brooke told the publication. “Murphy had been an amazing sleeper since she was born!! At just one month, she was sleeping six-hour stretches and sleeping through the night at two months old!"

Turns out that this is quite a common occurrence and several viewers commented under the video, stating how their kids also feel comfortable sleeping in a similar manner. “I often find my 3-year-old sleeping with her pillow on her face,” one user commented. “My daughter is 6 months and still does this, but she sleeps 12-13 hours straight, so it’s ok lol,” one more viewer said. “My boy is a toddler now and he still wants a blanket on his face/forehead/neck lol,” another user wrote.

Another TikTok creator named Rachel (@miscarriageandme) shared the experience of a parent trying to get a baby going through sleep regression to fall asleep. The video was of her husband trying to get their baby to fall asleep. However, the child just twisted and turned on the bed as the father gently wrestled them back to a position in which the baby can sleep soundly. “The 18-month sleep regression is definitely here! When you are the parent in there in the thick of it, it is hell. But watching from the outside, you have to admit it is pretty funny!” the caption of the video read. Speaking to Newsweek, Rachel said that sleep regression could affect a baby at any time, and they always have to be prepared for the same.

"Thomas was a pretty good sleeper until the first sleep regression at around four months old. Since then, any and every sleep regression that can affect infants affected him...and us! We all start to sleep well again for a few weeks or months until the next one hits,” she explained.
