Parents-of-three thought they should have 'one more' child — now they are a family of eight

One couple’s longing for a baby boy blessed their family with an exhilarating surprise. Alexandra Con, a mom of three, requested her husband, Kevan, to try for “one more” baby and fulfill their dream of having four kids. The parents, both 36, figured it was the right time because they were already in the baby phase and would not struggle with the lifestyle. However, Con and Kevan’s endeavor added not one, but three members to the sweet family. In a viral reel posted to her Instagram (@dra.con), Con teased how she went from three to six children at once. 

Twin toddlers, Maeve and Mackenzie, smile away while their younger sister, Adalie, rolls on the floor in the viral clip with nearly a million views. “We should have one more, maybe we will have a boy,” an overlay text hints. The scene cuts to a sonogram of Con’s recent pregnancy, and the doctor points at the triplets the couple was soon to welcome. In the final bit, Con is standing on the beach while cradling her three newborns–twin daughters and a baby boy. “Famous last words– 'let’s have one more,'" the post’s caption stated. In an interview with Newsweek, the couple, who are based in Atlanta, opened up about their family plans and how they came to become a family of eight.

Raising three daughters under six, Con had originally planned to wait a few years before having another baby. However, she felt it would be ideal to have one more now because then their kids would be closer in age, and since all of their baby things were already set up. The news of having triplets did catch the couple off guard, but the mom revealed that it was possible owing to her family history. “My grandmother had two sets of twins, so we always knew that another set of twins was a possibility, but never imagined triplets in a million years!" she disclosed. 

Con and Kevan panicked, thinking about the complex NICU stays, the extra appointments, meeting high-risk doctors, and even the early delivery. "It was still very hard, but less unknown to us,” the mom of six admitted. In the end, everything turned out well, and the family welcomed Collins, Caden, and Camille. It is easy to imagine how an average morning at the Cons would look like, but the mom keeps it sane with routine and humor. “You also have to find the beauty in it every day," she noted. Life is full of surprises, and for the couple, it came as triplets. On the brighter side, though, Con finally got her baby boy as she desired.

People reacted to the clip with humor. “You asked for one boy but forgot to specify the number of girls,” said @brigitanjrealtor while @cpinion94 quipped, “Got that boy though, lol.” Con’s experience left many other moms terrified of trying for more babies. @heyjasnichole disclosed, “I’m a girl mama of four here, and this was my husband and I after trying a 3rd time for a boy. We ended up with identical twin girls. I’m way too terrified to try for a boy now.” @kristina93ri said she was looking for a sign and is reading the clip as “abort mission.”
