A seemingly simple kindergarten homework question making the rounds on social media is harder than one might think. Surprisingly, countless adults, including those with advanced degrees, weren't able to solve it. On Reddit, a confused parent posted their child’s homework, hoping netizens could help find the right answer. The question required one to guess three-letter words by looking at the pictures given. One had to work with only the first letters that were cited as hints.

The first picture was of a small bear, and the letter given was 'C' for 'cub'. The next picture featured a sun with the letter 'S', making it easy to guess. However, the last picture proved tricky as it depicted a woman wearing a robe and a veil with the letter 'W' as a hint, as reported by The Mirror. Many thought the answer might be 'nun', but they weren’t sure. Reddit user u/Thea_From_Juilliard shared the post and claimed, “Several adults with advanced degrees could not solve this kindergarten homework.”

As the post went viral, people chimed in with their guesses. While a few suggested that the word could be 'wed', a Reddit user (u/TrixIx), rightly asked, “Why would a kindergartener know the word 'wed' yet? Most adults use the term married or wedding. And that looks like a nun, not a bride. Is this a religious school?” Another person, u/nerdburg, guessed, "‘Wen’ is an archaic or poetic term for a woman, derived from Middle English. While rarely used in modern English, it appears in old literature and dialects.” Meanwhile, u/RunnyBabbit22 argued, “She needs to have a bouquet or something. As is, she looks nothing like a bride. That does not look like a wedding dress or a bridal veil. Clearly a nun.”

As the comments poured in, the debate continued. u/lisamon429 reasoned, “'Wed' is such a weird choice to me for so many reasons. Is a kindergartener supposed to recognize that illustration as a bride? No flowers, no partner, literally zero context clues other than the fact that it’s not ‘nun’ because the word starts with 'W'. Seems like a lot of reasoning for a kid.” Meanwhile, u/TheCoopX joked, “Oh come on, everyone knows how this works...A woman nun = Wun. A man nun = Mun. An attractive nun = Aun. A short nun = Sun. A homely nun = Hun. A creepy nun = Cun. A tall nun = Tun. A pudgy nun = Pun. A dead nun = Dun.”

In light of the growing frustration in the comments, the mom finally shared that the answer was in fact 'wed', as reported by the Daily Mail. When a person asked, 'Wed?' the mom replied, “This is the answer per the teacher. My only response is ‘wow.’” So, be honest, did you know the word was 'wed'? Or were you just as confused?
