At a time when people are looking to save more money amidst rising costs of living and many are relying on reselling branded goods for a profit as a side gig, thrift stores have gained immense popularity. Thrifting also reduces waste generated by fast fashion and promotes responsible consumption habits. If the buyers are lucky then they might stumble upon hidden gems available at throwaway prices. But a woman named Izabela, who goes by @grandmasnosejob on TikTok, shared a bittersweet video of making a discovery that opened a window into the life of someone who has possibly poured their heart into making a piece of clothing for someone special.

The brief video showed the viewers a beautiful knitted sweater in brown that Izabela found hanging on the rack at the thrift store. The caption of the video read, "Made by Grandma? With Love?" followed by a bunch of crying emojis. The sweater was priced at just $10.49, but what made it priceless was the second tag placed on top of the price tag that read, "Made by grandma. with love." It appeared to be a heartwarming gift that a grandmother had handcrafted for her grandchildren but has somehow ended up on display at a thrift shop. TikTok users were left stunned by the actions of the original owner of the sweater and wondered why they would toss it away.

@alexisrushing810 wrote, "I wish my great grandma and grandpa were still here. We used to have breakfast together when my mom would drop me off every weekend she had a cabbage." @raahosh commented, "I still have the dress my grandma's sister made for me, it's insane how people throw things like this so easily, but sadly we don't know what happened." @trixareforleftists shared, "I'm 23 years old and still have my blanket my nana crocheted for me when I was born, even though it's pink. I still HAVE it. Jesus." @luvcoda added, "My nana could get me the ugliest thing and I would wear it anyway because I love her to bits and I think she's so awesome. I don't care what anybody else thinks because she thinks I look awesome."

A lot like Izabela's thrift shop discovery, another person stumbled upon their childhood artwork on sale at an antique warehouse. Nicole Dominguez, who goes by @mynamemeansvictory, pulled up the framed doodle to show her viewers. She revealed that it was a portrait of her mom that she had painted when she was five years old but now it was on sale for $48.00. She expressed her confusion in the video as she held the painting and looked around in disbelief. Thankfully, the seller was kind enough to let her keep the painting for free. The doodle was titled "Amateur Watercolor" while it was put up on sale at the warehouse.

In a second video, she explained the backstory of the painting. "The first thing that I saw was the portrait of my mom that I did when I was five. I immediately FaceTimed my mom who was shocked that it was being sold and she instructed me to buy it back no matter the cost and ask where they sourced it," she said. Dominguez further added that she and her mother had left behind some old possessions in the storage of their old house while relocating, and somehow the picture had ended up in the warehouse.
