Wedding vows are memorable for a couple, but despite that people write out their wedding vows on paper to avoid missing out on important things in their excitement about the big day. But for Kirsten Durand, reciting her wedding vows was not simple as she is autistic, but a video posted on her shared TikTok account @tandkay021 with her husband Troy showed how beautifully she read out those words for him.

The video which gained over 3 million views, shows Durand and Troy on the altar as she prepares to read her vows. "Troy, everyone always told me that I was dreaming," Durand began her vows. "That my standards were too high and I needed to settle at some point—but I didn't listen. I knew you were out there. I tried to describe how much I love you and came up with this." Durand added that Troy not only "checked all the boxes" but also "exceeded expectations."

"I am my best self because I know you. You even me out. You challenge me to view things not only in black and white, yet you bring color to every aspect of my life," Durand said while concluding her vows. "I love you at your core. I'm so excited for the future, as I know whatever life throws our way, we will get through it together." Despite the difficulties in expressing her thoughts, Durand finished reciting her vows.

In an interview with Newsweek, Durand shared how reciting her wedding vows to her husband was a "unique" experience for her since she is autistic and often struggles to express her emotions clearly. She added how saying those words made her feel incredibly free at the moment when she felt like all the guests had disappeared and it was just her and her future husband. A 33-year-old Durand mentioned that her vows were not complete until the night before her wedding because she got a concussion. Her best friends stepped in to write down her thoughts as she was lying in the bath.

When Duran was diagnosed with autism, it changed a lot in her relationship and for the better. She got the support she needed from her husband and she still feels emotional about it since her husband was the one who first noticed that she might be autistic. "I believe I found my true self with him," she mentioned to the outlet. "Our relationship started with challenges, primarily due to misunderstandings from my undiagnosed autism. I used to believe everyone thought the way I did, so when I pointed things out, others perceived it as criticism." Troy had worked with autistic children in the past and he helped Durand come to terms with the life-altering reality about herself.

"It was a relief to understand why I felt different," Durand continued. "There was a point where I was worried I would be burdening him and not be able to fulfill the role of wife as he needed due to the research. Troy and I decided to set an example by addressing the lack of information on relationships between autistic and allistic people. We started our podcast, T&Kay the Spectrum Way, on YouTube. We share our experiences to help others navigate similar challenges without feeling like a burden." The online community praised all the heart and soul she put into the letter and left wholesome comments for the couple.

But those pictures were probably gorgeous." @copaceticannabis joked: "I had to pause before it got too sweet so I could comment, if I was marrying a Troy I would have said his name like in HSM. TROOOOOOOY! And then calmly do my vows." @dejarussel added: "These are seriously the best vows I’ve ever heard and I believe every word! Your love is special! God bless you guys and your marriage."
