What a Couple Did After Receiving Letters From Previous Owners of Their House Will Melt Your Heart
A home is a place associated with a lot of memories and major milestones for an individual or a family, and selling it off is more than just another real estate deal for many. But practical reasons, more often than not win this battle and many choose to part with their homes. This is what in all probability happened with the previous owners of the house that Laura Rudd (@laurajrudd) and her husband purchased. The emotional importance of the house in their heart is evident in the note that the previous residents left for Laura and her husband.
The couple shared the note on the day that they were set to move out of the house. They wanted the people who were to move in after them, to have the same special experience that they had for years in the house, as reported by PEOPLE. The letter begins with the past owners giving a background regarding their association with the house, "Welcome to your new home. This house has been our home since the mid-'50s and in that time, Mom & Dad raised four of us children in these four walls. And, my, it was often a tight fit!"
The letter then goes on to say, "In the following years there has been so much happiness and love and sadly a little grief too, hence where we are today. But in all of these years, the thing that resounds the most is the laughter, and there was so much of that with family, relatives, and friends." Despite being hurt at the prospect of leaving the home, the outgoing family had nothing but blessings for Laura and her partner. They added, "So on behalf of all of us ... I sincerely wish you all the happiness this wonderful home has to offer, not to mention the stunning outlook and views."
The couple was touched and tried to reach the previous owners but to no avail. The privacy regulations in the contract stopped them from making any contact with the sellers. The letter found its way in their memory box along with photos of the house when they moved in, and photos of the day they moved out. Laura and her partner, gifted this letter along with other things to the new owners, in order to share with them how special this house has been for its past inhabitants.
