Every pet owner's worst nightmare is their pet getting lost. But when the heavens are in one's favor, the missing furry friends often find their way back home. This however wasn't the case with an Albany woman, Chelsea Blackwell, whose dachshund, Blue, wandered straight into the arms of a Hollywood star. As Blackwell searched the streets in her neighborhood desperately for an hour, she noticed police and a crowd of paparazzi near Albany’s Greyhound bus station. Initially, she took it to be a crime scene. But to her surprise, it was a movie set.

When Blackwell approached the film crew to ask about her dog, she found out that her lost pup had been rescued by none other than Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank. Another hour later, a car rolled up, and there was Blue, comfortably sitting on Swank’s lap, as reported by Upworthy. The woman said, "I was like, 'No way.' As soon as she got out of the car, I kissed Blue and said, 'Thank you so much.'" When Blackwell asked Swank for an autograph, the actress had a different idea—she suggested they click a photo together instead, as reported by Times Union.

Speaking of Swank, Blackwell said, "She's not the type of person who's going to blow the horn telling people what she did." Blue is finally back home, and now he’s got his very own Hollywood tale to tell. Swank, a dog lover, has previously shared her love for dogs. In a 2021 interview with People magazine, she spoke about her dogs. She said, "I think that dogs have an incredible innate gift of reading us without any words. Their ability to communicate is extraordinary." She added, "I always wanted a dog. Every birthday and Christmas, I'd say 'Can I please have a dog.'" The actress also revealed a sad story.

She recalled, "I got a dog when I turned 12 but then the trailer park we lived in got bought by a new owner and then they said no dogs and my parents gave the dog away. So, it was pretty traumatic." Swank continued, "So when I moved out of the house at 18, I went to the humane society and I got my first dog that I rescued and I named her Lucky." The actress also shared the stories of how she found her other dogs Kai, Teddy, Moon, Karoo, and Sufi.

Swank shared that her late dog, Karoo, who she claimed was the most special of all her pets, came to her in South Africa. After her passing, Swank was motivated to start Hilaroo, an NGO that pairs rescued animals with underprivileged children. Swank's passionate efforts have not gone unappreciated; as reported by Bustle. The Petco Foundation recognized her contributions and designated her ambassador for Iams' Home for the Holiday Campaign.
