Using modern technology can often be a test of patience, from enduring poor wifi networks to expensive home gadgets getting lost. A woman had been searching for her robot vacuum cleaner for two days but her vain efforts forced her to check out her surveillance cameras at home, presuming theft. But the discovery of footage showing the whereabouts of her vacuum cleaner left her in splits. TikTok creator betzyproduction (@betzyproduction) was concerned after her robot vacuum had vanished out of plain sight but it eventually dawned on her that there was one place she had not checked.

The influencer probably had a good laugh after finding out the truth, which she discovered from footage captured by her ring camera. Moreover, she could not help but share the hilarious instance with the world as she posted the raw footage on social media to share the laughs with her 38.4K TikTok followers. Luckily, the video ended up being one of her most popular posts, viewed over 32.5 million times. It seemed like the woman’s robot vacuum, the Roomba, had a brain of its own, literally, as it ventured out of her house and into the lawn. The footage showed the disc-shaped gadget leisurely strolling on her pavement moving from one edge to the other.

“Couldn’t find my Roomba for 2 days and then saw this on the Ring camera,” the text on the video teased. The TikTok influencer cleverly added George Michael’s Freedom! ‘90  in the background to suggest Roomba’s newfound privilege. Meanwhile, netizens were confused about the robot vacuum access outside the home and raised questions about the hilarious incident. One user (@sonicdrivein) was rather baffled, and asked with exaggerated marks, “How did it get out?” while someone else (@bbyprinc3ss) wished the gadget farewell. “Good luck on your journey Roomba! Happy retirement!” the comment stated. A TikTok user (@packofnewports697) was amused, “This is so funny for some reason” and a third (@tracesofus4) joked that it was time to “clean up” the neighborhood.

The TikTok creator decided to address some of the questions as internet users demanded a follow-up of the robot vacuum and the damage incurred during Roomba’s night out. In a reply to one of the queries, she revealed that the vacuum cleaner had taken a “hit” and lost its bottom padding and “both brushes out here cleaning these streets.” The picture displayed the bottom of the vacuum filled with scratches and dirt. Robot vacuums have grown increasingly popular over the years. According to Vacuum Wars, the first commercially available robot vacuum cleaner was released in 1996, the Electrolux Trilobite. Though initially unsuccessful, it was followed by iRobot Rumba in 2002 becoming more mainstream than before, predominantly in the North American region.

Reviews from customers suggest that these bot cleaners typically perform well on hard floors but are not a great choice for carpets, rugs, and corners, according to CHOICE. They generally last about four to six years but also have a set of disadvantages that homeowners have to make peace with. First and foremost, they are less efficient than manual vacuums and not great with soft surfaces. They often get stuck on furniture and clutter in addition to a poor battery life that may stop its performance midway through the cleaning process. The speed of work and noise is also another factor for some customers, per Ecovacs
