After starting off as a platform for dance and music videos, TikTok has become a platform where users an find advice about almost anything under the sun and share their respective expertise as well. This has given rise to a new set of influencers that dole out finance tips, but there's still skepticism about how credible their advice is. But as part fo TikTok's latest trend, the discussion isn't about whether financial tips by influencers can be trusted or not, since women are focusing on finding a man in finance with some specific traits. Rae (@maxedoutmommy on TikTok) joined the conversation by preparing a powerpoint presentation to address the unrealistic demands when it comes to finding the perfect man.

Rae started her video by mentioning @GirlOnCouch's viral TikTok video which was parodied into several songs by a number of composers on social media. In the video, the other TikTok creator mentioned how she was looking for a man in finance who is 6'5, has blue eyes, and has a trust fund. The video went viral and Rae decided to do a PowerPoint presentation on how finding a guy with the specifications she demanded was practically impossible.

"Let's look at the numbers," she points at the projection of her PPT on the wall. "In the United States, there are over 100 million men who are over the age of 18. That is over 48.2% of this population over 18 who are men. But according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 7.6 million people work in finance and insurance." Rae claims that the next thing she did was to go through every other job title and narrow it down to those who work just in finance which was about 3.6 million people. When it comes to having a trust fund, she found that only 1.2% of those Americans working in finance have trust funds. "So, unfortunately, that just narrows down to 21,000 men in America," Rae continues.

Then Rae addresses the next big issue and that is finding a man who is 6'5 tall. "Only 0.1% of men in the United States are 6'5 and above," Rae shares, aggressively pointing at the statistics on the wall. "So, now we are down to only 21 men in the United States. Chances are pretty slim for our Girl On Couch." Now the last feature that the viral TikTok creator was asking for was a man with blue eyes, and Rae addresses that as well.

"There are more men in the United States with blue eyes than in any other part of the world. So about 27% of them have blue eyes and that narrows down to just six men. Six men in finance, with a trust fund, who are 6'5 with blue eyes but we are not done," Rae continues. She wonders if those guys are actually available or not, and throws in some more of her girl math to narrow the count to just two men who are possibly single. The TikTok community jumped in to comment on the accuracy of Rae's unhinged calculations and shared their own analysis.

@janapierce wrote, "A man in finance would be APPALLED by this math," while @matchfour remarked, "This is a great example of why you can't multiply probabilities that aren't independent!" @sharknado523 noted, "This math isn't correct. You're multiplying percentages over categories which have overlap." @erineleven77 commented, "The percentage of people in finance that have a trust fund is probably higher than the general population. Considering education costs etc." @akujinhu added, "You are not accounting for group biases. For example, people in finance might have a better chance of having a trust fund."
