Parenting is perhaps one of the toughest jobs in the world, as one always needs to be on guard for things that might leave a child traumatized. A lot of the problematic behavior seen among people today takes root in their early years. Parents are never completely aware of what goes on inside the school where their kids study. Sometimes, a game that might seem harmless to some kids can be quite disturbing. That’s exactly what a mother learned from her daughter, and she uploaded a video about it as a PSA on TikTok.

“PSA to parents of children in junior high: My 11-year-old daughter just informed me that the boys are playing a game called The Firetruck Game,” TikTok creator @the.funny.nurse said in the video she uploaded, as per a report in Motherly. She then went on to describe the game, and let’s just say that it’s not the most comfortable thing to hear coming from the mother of a daughter.

According to her daughter, one of the boys will put their hand on her lower thigh and call it a firetruck. They will then run their hand up the girl’s leg, and whenever she feels uncomfortable, she has to say ‘red light.’ That’s the cue for the other kid to stop what he’s doing. However, that doesn’t happen. “They say, ‘Sorry, firetrucks don’t stop at red lights,’ and they run their hand all the way up until they touch the girl’s crotch,” the creator said.

Now, before she started speaking about the matter, the mother said that she understood that kids were always going to do dumb activities since they’re kids. However, that doesn’t give anyone the right to violate another kid’s personal space and make them feel uncomfortable in that manner. Viewers were livid about the matter and expressed outrage in the comments section.

“Press Charges,” one user commented. “My daughter will be playing the fire truck game with her foot kicking the boy in the no-no square!” quipped another user. “My version of the fire truck game is I will run every red light to get to the school to choke-slam somebody’s son,” another viewer added.

A creator on Instagram by the name of Kathleen Hema also spoke about the matter earlier. She claims to help parents have ‘the talk’ with their children and believes that there is more to be done than just cautioning kids against this one game. The firetruck game isn’t the only sexualized game there is. Truth and dare and spin the bottle are also like that. It is therefore important for kids to understand what’s right and wrong.

“Hopefully, you’re also thinking, ‘You know what? This can’t be the only sexualized game that they may come across, and I need to help build their critical thinking skills so they are aware of what these games entail, how to make healthy decisions for themselves, and to know when a game crosses a line and becomes sexual assault,” she said.
