Angry boy has an unexpected meltdown after mom ‘hurts’ his feelings by saying no to garlic bread

A mother captured her angry boy having a meltdown when she refused to get him garlic bread, and the internet is still recovering from it. The TikTok mom, who goes by @kissssssssmyash, observed his intense reaction and allowed the little guy to explain his feelings. When he revealed the reason behind his distress, the mom was rather surprised but did not invalidate his feelings by scolding him. Meanwhile, people were impressed by the boy’s coherence at such a young age and applauded his communication skills.

Filming her teary-eyed son, the concerned mom asked why he was sad. “Because you hurt my feelings,” the boy cried. When she asked how she did that, her son reiterated his hurt feelings before reasonably stating the great reason behind his meltdown. “Because you told me ‘No’ for garlic bread," he expressed. The son let out a loud cry in the end while his mom clarified in the caption, “I posted proof that I have him garlic bread, guys. Me, the week before my period.” A whopping 644,000 people liked the post while thousands of others flooded the comments with their humorous insights and opinions.

“Twenty years later, the garlic bread incident estrangement,” joked @klee_713 while @whatjeffrey shared, “The most valid crashout. Get the Garlic Bread now, woman!” “Why is no one talking about this kid communicating his feelings better than most grown men,” pointed out @mjmatinees. Someone else (@just_chele) penned, “I will charter a plane and bring him garlic bread if there is not a follow-up video soon.” “Honestly, I don’t even blame him for being upset,” wrote @realfaithful. “Oh no. Unacceptable. Unlimited garlic bread. Italian-themed birthday party,” quipped @water9701.

A hilarious comment by @coalbranch said, “Call CPS! This is unbelievable.” Taking the hint, the mother replied to the note with a follow-up video. In a different post, the creator showed her son chomping on two huge slices of garlic bread following his intense emotional reaction earlier. “I love garlic bread,” he smiled before nibbling on his favorite snack. The video once again went viral, but at least people were content that the kid finally got to relish garlic bread. However, the viewers did not spare the joyous moment of sarcasm and jokes. “This seems staged, I’d still call the CPS,” said @limelessone, and @ladytrojan183 joked, “Blink twice if she took the garlic bread after the video.”
In the children's world, even the most minute and trivial matters seem life-altering, hence the heavy reactions. According to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, meltdowns are common in children, but when they happen chronically, it indicates a much serious problem. It indicates that the child is struggling to develop emotional regulation skills, an executive function that allows us to effectively deal with daily tasks. Neuropsychologist Iris Paltin, PhD, ABPP-CN, explained, “Your child’s tears over small stuff are related to emotional control,” adding, “The tears themselves should be thought of as neutral — there’s nothing either good or bad about them. You should verbally acknowledge your child’s sadness or disappointment, but you don’t have to do anything.” Not sure about the garlic bread, but the mother correctly validated her son’s feelings.
