Bride goes on a solo honeymoon after groom cheats on her — then a special person tagged along

A father always looks out for his daughter. Would-be bride Tobi Elder was in the midst of her wedding preparations when the worst news struck her. Elder, who hails from Nebraska and goes by @tobielder on TikTok, was getting her bridal nails done in a salon. Hours ahead of her romantic beach wedding with her fiancé, whom she had been with for the past three years, she received a series of texts about his cheating affair. Elder was shattered. She had even planned for their honeymoon getaway to Hawaii. The wedding was canceled. Nevertheless, she decided to take the trip to Hawaii alone.

Elder had tried her best to do the right thing and not be hasty with the next big step in her relationship. Her fiancé, whom she did not name, showed no signs of infidelity until the final moment of truth. They had gotten engaged and were ready for the dream wedding. But fate, apparently, had other plans for Elder. "I was in a previous relationship that was extremely toxic and abusive, so I waited three years before getting married as I was hesitant of being hurt again," she told Newsweek. 36 hours before the wedding, Elder had to gulp down her harsh reality, accept the truth, and fly to the dream destination alone on her honeymoon.

"I decided to go alone and heal once arriving in Hawaii. I completely fell apart and broke down. [I] don't think I've ever felt so low and broken,” she added. However, there was one man whom she could rely on. Moments after she landed in Hawaii, her father informed her that he would join her. Both of her parents wanted to fly down there, but her father did not hesitate. "When he told me, 'I'll be there Friday with you,' I just burst into tears because I was so, so heartbroken and alone," Elder recalled. In one of her most popular TikTok videos, the creator shared a clip of her father in the airport and then at a cafe savouring orange juice together. "My dad had always been there when needed. [He] is an amazing human being with so much love, and he's so funny,” the daughter shared.

“When you’re heartbroken on what was supposed to be your honeymoon in Hawaii, so your dad flies 2,500 miles to hang out with you,” a note on the video read. Whereas, in the caption, Elder noted, “I can say I am loved and my dad is always there.” The clip was viewed about 4 million times and liked by 353,000 people. Internet users showered Elder with messages of love and support.
