Dad says he’s so hungry he could ‘eat a baby’— but his confused toddler suggests a better solution

Sometimes, the simple, unscripted interactions between parents and their kids can lead to the funniest moments. Whether it’s just an honest answer, a misheard word, or a toddler's unexpected comeback, these little moments turn out to be laugh-out-loud memories. In one such incident, when a dad jokingly told his little daughter that he was so hungry that he could even 'eat a baby', he probably wasn’t expecting her innocent reaction. The adorable video has gone viral on TikTok, with the little girl’s confused response leaving viewers in stitches. The video clip was shared by Carson Matranga, the little girl's mom who goes by @creator___ on the video-sharing platform.

In the video, Carson says, "Oh, I'm so hungry I could eat a kid." Hearing that, the little girl paused and gave her dad a puzzled look, clearly unsure about how to respond. But when the dad doesn't get a response from her, he says, "I'm so hungry I could eat a baby." This time, the little girl paused for a while and replied, "Don't eat a baby." At first, she suggested her dad eat a waffle or a pancake—but quickly changed her mind and decided not to include pancakes in her list. She then asked, "Dad, do you want pancakes?" Carson confirms, "Oh, so I don't eat baby, and eat a waffle instead? Okay."

The little girl nods her head in agreement, prompting her dad to say, "Ok, I'll do that. I'll eat a waffle. Alright, thank you." In the caption, Carson wrote, "Guess I'm eating waffles from now on." The clip quickly went viral, gaining thousands of likes and comments from people who couldn't stop adoring the baby girl. One TikTok user, @youngzbcoi2, commented, “When she first heard it, she was like, ‘Nah, I'm not a kid yet, so it’s not my problem’. But when he switched to baby, she was like, ‘Nah, now he is coming for me; give him some other options!’ Waffles.”

Another person, @thelovelytiff, stated, “I freaking love her personality. Daughters are so different from sons. I have 2 boys, but my 2-year-old daughter is something else.” Similarly, @rarerootie also praised the little girl’s innocence and said, “Oh my God, she’s so cute and smart! She’s like, ‘Dad, we got waffles in the house, eat that, not me.’” A child's innocence is often seen as a state of purity, marked by their unawareness of life’s major complexities and concerns, as well as the compromises of the adult world.

Meanwhile, in another heartwarming moment that gave a glimpse of childhood innocence, Brittney (@bgreenish), a mom on Instagram, shared a moment when her daughter suddenly asked her an unexpected question. Brittney was watching a movie when her daughter innocently asked her, "Do you have to have to husband?" "Nope," the woman answered. Though it's unclear what prompted the little girl to ask her mother that question, the brief interaction was a reminder of how children naturally view the world with sincerity and curiosity.
