A man recently got roasted after he proposed to his girlfriend at a marathon just as she crossed the finish line. While his girlfriend was thrilled, many on the internet felt he stole her spotlight. The girl, Sarah John (@sarahjohn69), a self-proclaimed fitness enthusiast, shared a video of the incident. It featured the bride-to-be crossing the finish line and finding her boyfriend waiting for her.

As Sarah saw her boyfriend get down on one knee, she came to an abrupt halt. The man reminded his fiancée-to-be to first stop the timer on her watch. As she walked over to him, he held her hand and popped the question. Sarah said yes without thinking twice, and the crowd cheered as they shared a kiss, as reported by People magazine. On TikTok, the runner, Sarah, shared, "Started the marathon as a girlfriend, finished it as a fiancée. 💍🤍." The video soon went viral as netizens chimed in with their two cents.

Not everyone was impressed, as they argued that her boyfriend could have chosen a different day. A TikToker, @thejuliapool, commented, “Definitely should have saved this proposal for another day, totally stole her moment.” Similarly, another person, @sootstains, added, “‘How do I make this all about me’ moment.” Others defended Sarah and her boyfriend. A TikTok user, @koko..1919, rightly said, “If he did this halfway round the course, he would have been stealing her moment. Waiting for her at the finishing line, telling her to clock her time first. He is ENHANCING her moment. HER moment.”

Another person, who goes by the username @snapdragons53, echoed, “He waited for you to cross the chip line and reminded you to stop your watch. Congratulations on finding someone who understands your hobbies.” Similarly, a person, @islaxx23, noted, “These comments are wild. If my partner did this, I would be over the moon. It wouldn't even cross my mind that he had 'stolen my moment.' People need to lighten up. She clearly loved it, look how happy she is.” Sarah also responded to the negative comments and said, “Sorry...I forgot that you strangers on the internet know me better than my partner.”

She asserted that the proposal was very special for her and it did not, in any way, interfere with her marathon achievement. In the comments section, she dubbed it the 'perfect moment' and described her new fiancé as 'the best', as reported by the Daily Mail. She further stressed, "He knows me better than these strangers on the internet, and I couldn’t imagine anything more perfect for me." Sarah even joked that her heart rate was at its highest during the proposal. Well, all is well if it ends well.
