With Mother’s Day just around the corner, a mother was overwhelmed with emotions when she found a beautiful note her young daughter had left for her. On Reddit, the woman (u/OdysseyPop) shared a snap of the handwritten letter and expressed her admiration for her little girl. The heartfelt message resonated with many on the internet as they shared thoughtful insights about the daughter’s emotional intelligence. “This is a letter my 11-year-old daughter wrote me a few days ago. In the letter, the young daughter noted her admiration for her mother and acknowledged her contributions that make the daughter feel supported and loved. The tween began, “If I could give you one thing in life, I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes. Only then would you know how special you are!” She then thanked her “special” mother for everything. “Thank you for the love and support. You go through so much but never show it. I hope I’ve told you this over the last 11 years, but if I didn’t, I love you the way you are,” she added, signing off as “the person that needs you the most, Sierra.” The post received hundreds of votes and love, and blessings from strangers on the internet.

One person (u/superfuzzpop) wrote, “Oh my heart! You have a beautiful daughter.” While another (u/FluckyU) wrote, “Pretty clear sign you are a great mother. You are both incredibly lucky to have each other.”  Similarly, a third commenter (u/ChimkenNuggs) shared, “Wish you the best, you’ve done exceptionally.” “It’s written like heartfelt poetry,” mentioned u/RogerDat143. Applauding the daughter’s effort, u/Jtg1960 said, “Absolutely beautiful. I would cherish this letter forever, and my daughter.” An elaborate comment by u/Practical-Witness796 explained, “That is an incredibly high EQ letter. I’ve seen plenty of letters from kids to their parents saying they love them, but this is so incredible for an age of 11."

"Validating your struggles, showing empathy, and appreciation, making you feel seen. Just wow,” they added. The person predicted the daughter would become an “incredible human being” and could be a potential therapist in the future. Another mom (u/changlingmagoo) related, “What a tender-hearted child. I'm lucky to have one too. Keep those notes close. You will need them on tough days.” It is well known that a mother-daughter relationship is unique, stemming from a powerful connection that begins at birth.

A daughter often looks up to her mother growing up and draws from the shared experiences between them. Mutual respect and constant support are also integral to creating a bond that may withstand the test of time. Expert Dr. Deborah MacNamara explained that a deeply connected child will look up to their adults, seek their help, and want to be with them. They usually do not seek help from someone they are advised to but rather from ones who they believe care for them, per a report on her site. Therefore, when a child expresses their heartfelt emotions to a parent, it is likely that they will tune in to what is being said.
