For Lauryn Windham Franks (laurynfranks) and her husband, Colin, that balancing act took a turn, thanks to one unexpectedly massive purchase. Deep into building their custom home in Texas, Lauryn had reached a point of decision fatigue. While she handled most of the design elements and Colin focused on the structure, picking out a television wasn’t something she wanted to think about. 

So she handed over the responsibility to him, hoping for something simple and sleek, ideally, a discreet frame TV. Colin had other plans. He came home with a 98-inch television, something more suited for a home theater than a bedroom. Lauryn captured her reaction in a TikTok video that quickly went viral. “I left my husband in charge of picking the TV for our master bedroom because I was tired of making decisions,” she wrote. “I was thinking more of a pretty frame TV, but okay.”

The couple, who have been capturing the progress of their custom home build in Texas on TikTok, found themselves overwhelmed by the slew of decisions that come with constructing a house. Lauryn explained to Newsweek that while Colin managed the home’s structural aspects, she concentrated on the interior aesthetic. Since Lauryn wasn’t keen on researching television options, she honestly didn’t have strong preferences about which one Colin would pick, much like how he didn’t fuss over the furniture choices she made.

The playful comments helped turn a funny moment into a fun conversation about bold home design choices and the surprises that come with sharing decision-making in relationships. Meanwhile, @Bailee Bennett joked, “Not you all having a Jumbotron in your primary bedroom,” ridiculing the sheer scale of the TV. Another user, @user2852667715795, added a sarcastic twist, asking, “Is there a screen missing from the Times Square?” as if their bedroom had become a city landmark. The sarcasm did not stop there, with @henryjb3 chiming in enthusiastically, “There is still some more on that wall. It’s so small. He should have gone bigger.”
