Woman finds out her dog only has 2 days to live — she decides to capture their last moments together

When a woman found out that her dog had only two days left to live, she decided to capture their last moments together. On Instagram, Martina Liang was visibly emotional when she shared that her pet Bubby had cancer, which had spread to her entire body. Bubby also had a neurological deficit.

The text overlay of her Instagram video read, “She [Bubby] has been a fighter all her life, but unfortunately her time had finally come. There wasn’t much we could do besides just be by her side to the end.” Liang and others in her family were initially relieved when Bubby started eating again after taking the medicines prescribed by her vet. However, her lungs soon filled with fluid, resulting in shortness of breath. During her last 48 hours, Bubby wasn’t able to get up without support.

Liang shared, “At this point, I could just tell how bad the cancer was affecting her. But she was still fighting so hard to just pee on her own.” She tried to feed Bubby her favorite food, but her appetite was completely gone. Liang expressed her love for Bubby and wrote, “Thank you for 20 years of love, happiness, and beautiful memories. Fly high, my baby.” As the video made the rounds on social media, netizens were heartbroken. A person on Instagram, @stephhopeart, commented, “Twenty years of being amazing doggy parents 💔😭🥺. I told myself I wouldn’t cry at the beginning of this, and here I am, sobbing my eyes out.”

Another netizen, @hifinest808, rightly said, “Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love, they depart to teach us about loss. It may be the hardest goodbye, but Bubby gave you the greatest memories. Run wild and free, Bubby!” In a similar vein, @iamnasenlaaaa chimed, “Hi Bubby, I hope you’ve met my BooBoo, he got there 2 days ago. He’s probably with Mimi, but Mimi loves climbing trees, so he’ll need someone to run around with. I hope you two become friends and run around the whole day without any pain whatsoever. And I hope all of you know that we still love you, even if we’re not there with you. We always will.”
Dogs aren't just our loyal companions— studies reveal that having them in our lives also has many health benefits. From reducing stress in both adults and kids to lowering the risk of asthma in children, having a dog around is a blessing. TIME Magazine even reports that dogs are known to lower blood pressure. They also understand our feelings. Research reveals that they understand everything from facial expressions to body language. So, if you're a pet owner, give your dog a good belly rub or an impromptu walk. They deserve all our love.
