Woman had no idea how to style a silk gown she thrifted — her grandma knew exactly what to do

“You have the fashion sense of a grandma” just got a new meaning. Zoe Frishberg and her grandmother Ronna Siegal are taking over the internet with their impeccable sense of style. On Instagram (@zoenothingnew), Frishberg flaunts her pro thrifting skills and great finds and often runs to her ‘Nonna’ for inspiration. Of late, the duo has consistently gone viral for their random dress-up sessions where Siegal takes the role of the youngster’s stylist. Turns out, this has been a tradition since the creator was a child.

It all began with an impromptu request by Frishberg to film how she and her grandmother whip up ideas to style new looks and dresses. While the grandkid is a thrifter, Nonna has a trove of vintage items stacked up in her closet– a haven for Frishberg to rummage through and discover worthy finds. In one of her most popular videos, viewed over 10.5 million times, the duo flaunts their skills, styling an elegant gown thrifted by Frishberg. “Couldn’t figure out what was going on with the straps,” she revealed. The video cuts to her asking her chic Nonna for help. “The color is beautiful. Great color for me,” she quips.

Having conveyed her problem, Nonna gets to work and figures out a way to beautifully tie the straps of the thrifted dress. Capturing the candid moments, the creator offers glimpses of her Nonna even ironing the dress for her. She then hands her granddaughter a fashionable Chanel purse to accessorize the look, leaving many shocked on the internet. Showing off the final look, Frishberg and Nonna pose at the end. “You look beautiful!” she casually adds. “A moment for the dress! Getting ready for a night out, and good thing Nonna was there to figure it out,” the post was captioned.

While she enjoyed their dress-up sessions together, Nonna never expected to resonate with millions of people at the same time. “Zoe had a vision of doing this because I've always helped her style and alter her clothes. She came to me in June and said, 'I need you to fix this, but I'm gonna film us.' That's how it started," Siegel said in an interview with PEOPLE. She expressed her shock at how people have been tuning in to watch their sessions. Meanwhile, Frishberg acknowledged that her “love for fashion” was influenced by her grandmother. "Whenever I visit her, one of us gets dressed and asks for the other's feedback."

Seigel has dedicated her life to art. She is trained as a jewelry metal worker and also took a course in tailoring. Her personal style, she described, was “somewhat classic.” Moreover, the grandmother enjoys the constant fashion nudges from Frishberg. "I think it's amazing. Zoe calls me all the time. It's every grandma's dream,” she admitted. On the internet, their viral video was a hit among viewers, receiving 514,000 hearts. One person (@meg_hamil) wrote, “I love how she just casually hands you a Chanel.” Another (@jaritemple) said, “Ohhh…I aspire to be this kind of Nonna.”
